Meeting Minutes for meeting held on March 2, 2005

Members in attendance:  Janet Fuenty, Joy Seaton, Jackie Moyer, Don Sandell, Joan Cunningham, Tara Theisen, Ed Smith, George Anderson and Arnie Binning.

 

Meeting called to order by Jackie Moyer at 8:00 a.m.

 

Welcome to new members and guests.  New members, old members and guests are always welcome and appreciated. 

 

Treasurer’s Report was distributed and summarized by Joy Seaton.  The report was approved unanimously.

 

Minutes of the prior meeting were distributed.  Ed Smith moved to approve the minutes.  Don Sandell seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously. 

 

New members and businesses:  None this month.  However, our downtown will be losing Aero Computing on March 15.  Dr. Dykstra, the veterinarian moved out earlier this week.

 

Agenda additions:  None.

 

Committee Reports

 

Finance and Administration Committee:  Members must return their membership dues.  Thank you to those that have sent them in. 

 

Membership Committee:  Membership dues and information sheets are being returned.

 

Streetscape Committee:  Jackie Moyer will see that the banner is removed from the wagon on Route 20.  Jackie Moyer will also call Shawcraft signs regarding the repair of the welcome sign to determine when they might be able to start.  We can remove the poinsettias once they thaw.  The perimeter lights will be installed once the weather warms up.

 

Advertising and Business Promotion:  Tara Theisen is meeting with C.J. Gregg to discuss advertising for the festival.  The festival committee was able to participate in a flyer sponsored by Freeport businesses, which will be inserted in the Chicago Tribune.

 

Summer Festival Committee:  Radio station 98.5 will not be able to participate in the festival.  Jackie Moyer will be contacting the Freeport station.  Attendees at the festival will be able to enjoy breakfast, a motorcycle show and a Little Miss and Little Mister drawing.  The next festival committee meeting will be March 6 at 6:00 at US Bank.  Jackie Moyer attended a meeting of the Village Board.  The Board agreed the festival is exempt from the village entertainment tax.

 

Old Business

 

Lions Club Donation:  Janet Fuenty will obtain estimates for the replacement of the brackets and banners from Joan Cunningham and will complete a letter to the Lions Club for assistance in their purchase.

 

New Business

 

Meet the Candidates Forum.  Jackie Moyer inquired whether PIA might be interested in sponsoring a candidates' forum.  A general discussion was had during which the general consensus was positive.  Local elections will be held on April 12.  Jackie Moyer will investigate the details of putting on the forum.  Arnie Binning and Donald Sandell volunteered to assist her.

 

Riverhawks.  Jackie Moyer passed out information that she received from the Rockford Riverhawks regarding a Pecatonica night at their game on July 21.  Tickets are $5.00 each.  Any member wishing to order tickets can see any of the persons listed in attendance at the meeting.

 

J&J to Lease Pool.  Joan Cunningham announced that Dolphin Swim Club will be leasing the pool at J&J’s beginning April 1.

 

Adjournment:  Janet Fuenty moved to adjourn the meeting.  Tara Theisen seconded the motion.  The meeting adjourned at 8:47 a.m.

 

Next meeting will be Wednesday, April 6 at 8:00 a.m. at the Stonewall Café.

 

The next meeting for the Festival Committee will be at 6:00 p.m. on March 6 in the community room in the basement of U.S. Bank.  Please plan to attend and bring a friend.
