Meeting Minutes for meeting held on July 2, 2003

Meeting called to order by Terri Gregersen at 8:00 a.m.
New members and businesses are always encouraged. Tara Theisen announced that we can expect two new antique retailers to open soon.
Don Sandell presented a plan by the Rotary to put benches along Main Street to commemorate the Rotary’s Centennial. If local businesses would like to participate, Rotary will pay one-half of the approximate $175.00 per bench for up to four benches. Each bench will be made of recycled milk jugs and have a plaque commemorating the centennial and the business.
Also announced was Roatary’s meeting on Wednesday, July 9th with Richard Lamm, CPA, who is to discuss new tax laws and their impact on local businesses and individuals.
PIA would also like to remind its members of the sales tax increase to 7.25%.
Minutes of the last meeting were distributed. Minutes are being e-mailed to members for which we have addresses. Minutes are also available on-line at pecweb.com. Joy Seaton moved to approve the minutes from last month. Don Sandell seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Treasurer’s report was approved, including the transfer of funds into budgeted areas.

Membership Committee, Chairperson, Janet Fuenty, was absent and no report was made.
Welcome Center
Committee no report was made.
Streetscape Committee. Businesses are reminded to water the flower containers outside their businesses.
Advertising and Business Promotion committee Chairperson, Tara Theisen, announced that we shall soon have two new antique retailers coming to downtown.

Memorial Day Parade. No report was made

Fair Display: Volunteers are needed to help set up the PIA display at the Winnebago County Fair. The proposed date is Sunday, August 10, but may be rescheduled at the next meeting.
The farmer’s market has started slowly.
No officer’s meeting will be held this month.
